Creating a culture of equity requires teams to work in tandem toward the development of inclusive and innovative policies and practices. Having a shared vision is key to facilitating positive, systemic changes that will empower a culturally diverse society.
To foster this vision, I lead by example, encourage transparency, strengthen relationships through community-building opportunities, and prompt open-ended questions that lead to the critical examination of biases, privileges, disparities and needs though a social justice lens.
Technology
Today, the digital age offers many possibilities for fostering a culture of equity - but also many divisive challenges. As educators, it is crucial to be firmly grounded in the mutual responsibilities of government and civic stakeholders in response to the implications that innovative technologies bring. This includes meeting the demand for high quality, professional development to ensure the delivery of engaging learning activities in creative, on-line spaces.
I am well-versed in the inner workings of online instruction, Learning Management Systems, e-learning authoring tools, website development and instructional design for creating inclusive, multi-modal learning experiences. In my research, I have shown a knack for synthesizing diffusion of innovations and change theory with adult learning principles and best teaching practices. Through a constructivist lens, I tap into my background in business management, marketing, customer relations, and educational support - this powerful combination allows me to strategically plan, design, manage, and facilitate engaging, learner-centered experiences for the good of all.
